John played college soccer at Southern Connecticut State and was a member of their Division II National Championship team in 1992. He also played at Johnson State College where he was an All-Conference Goalkeeper and played in the NECAA senior all-star game. He played professionally for the Harrisburg Heat from 1996 to 1999.

-USSF 'C' License
-NSCAA Level I, II, and III Goalkeeper Diplomas
(Only 60 coaches in the country have completed the level III requirements.)

-USYSA Nation Youth License
