7/4/2009—The U16 LDC team were recently awarded the title
of Champions in one of Eastern PA's premier tournaments, the Mid
Atlantic Cup. Playing up in the top U17 division, LDC started
their title race against the NJ team, Wall Crush who they defeated
2-0. Later the same day, a second 2-0 win against the U17 PA team,
the North Union SC gave LDC the top spot in the bracket.
An early Sunday morning start found “Big Green” playing the
highly-ranked, U17 Redland Extreme in the semi-finals. The game
began with early pressure on the LDC goal but as LDC settled into
the game Redland discovered the determination of the younger team
that had been the undoing of so many teams before. The game ended
2-1 to LDC guaranteeing a palace in the finals.
The Championship game was played against the home team, the U17
Classics elite. Despite a depleted roster LDC played an even game
and scored the only goal of the match and the Championship title
for the second year running.
